e don't drink green tea in China, we experience it.
There is a famous saying here, "Tea is drunk to drown out the din of the world."
Two grades of Long Jing brewed with water from the famous Dragon Well a few steps away.
But it takes a special tea -- one that is hand-harvested during the few perfect weeks in the spring and hand crafted to bring out the complex, subtle flavors in the tender, young buds. To sip one of these great teas and let your mind focus on the whispering flavors is to let go of all outside distractions for a moment or two.

The legendary Dragon Well tea, Long Jing
Green tea is the favorite drink of China, but out of a thousand green teas, Long Jing is the undisputed national tea.
Longjing, or Dragon Well, was a tribute tea of the Qing Dynasty beginning with emperor Kangxi. It is known for its subtle, yet flavorful brew. Many tea lovers in China and beyond consider Long Jing the best green tea in the world.
The petite Long Jing leaves release a wonderful, nut-like scent that evokes the peaceful mountain slopes where they were grown. The aroma is followed by a taste that is both clear and earthy, with hints of sweetness.
It is the most famous of the Chinese teas and is often given to visiting heads of state. It's a perennial favorite of China's leaders as well. It is grown only in the small West Lake region of Hangzhou.
Leaves withering in the sun outside Long Jing Village tea shops to prepare them for low-heat drying, done by hand in large metal wok. Grown in the heights of one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, Mao Feng has a nutty aroma similar to its more famous sister, Long Jing. Its taste is slightly more delicate than Long Jing's, with several interesting notes sometimes described as hints of cinnamon or licorice.
Because it is less famous than Long Jing and its growing region is slightly larger, Mao Feng is a more affordable tea.
